Log transformation of the variables

By Sara | Mar 21, 2016 07:12PM CET

I've a variable (frequency of intake, represented as number of days from 0 to 730) and I have to log trasform it before using linear regression. Is there a function in XLSTAT to do that?
or should I use directly log-linear regression without prior transormation? and in that case which distribution I have to chose (Poisson, etc.)?
Thank you for your help.

Dear Sara,

You can use the Excel function =log() to transform your variable.
Alternatively, you can use the log-linear regression with XLSTAT. Poisson is the option to go for since your dependent variable is a count variable.
