Discriminant Function question

By truebeliever24 | Aug 13, 2016 02:13AM CEST

Hi all,

I'm trying to do a discriminant function analysis in Xlstat, but am receiving the following error message for my dependent variable: "At least one of the variables has been found to be constant, which is not allowed for this selection in this procedure."

What does this mean? Aren't my categorical variables supposed to be constant since they are the groups to which I am assigning a few independent variables of individuals?

Thanks for your help!

Hello, you need to have 1 column per dimension . 1 column with all categories for the dependent variable. And 1 column per explanatory variable. And explanatory variables musn’t be constant. The tutorial on the xlstat website shows you how to proceed.
