Preparing data for PCA analysis_ pre treatment and mean centring of spectral data.

By Steph | Oct 23, 2017 02:44AM CEST

Hi, can someone please tell me how do you preform mean centring on my spectral data as a pre-treatment before PCA analysis ? Where do I find this option in XLSTAT ? Im knew to XLSTAT and cannot find where to preform the pre treatment before PCA.

Hi Deepak,

Just run your PCA then apply your k-means cluster analysis on observation coordinates on the PCA :)

Hello,

PCA automatically centers the data prior to the analysis. If you want to do this manually, go to preparing data / variables transformation, select your data & click on “other”. Then go to the Transformations tab and select “center”.

Best,

Hello Zubair,

This tutorial will help you set up a PCA properly: https://help.xlstat.com/customer/en/portal/articles/2062222-running-a-principal-component-analysis-pca-with-xlstat?b_id=9283
It also explains what an eigenvalue is.

Hello Steph,

The PCA function is located in the Analyzing data XLSTAT menu.

Here is a tutorial that explains how to launch XLSTAT from the XLSTAT menu, how to select data and configure the dialog box. A demo data set is also available.

Hi Sunanda,
Please find our MFA tutorial here which explains how to use a data set for an MFA analysis. You can download the demo data from the tutorial.
